Passbilder - Photographs of mountain passes in the Alpes

The literal meaning of the word Passbilder - for all non german speakers - is passport photographs. But if you use it in german, it could have another meaning: a collection of pictures from mountain passes. That's the reason why I choose the homonym Passbilder for this work.

The Passbilder work is a documentation of mountain passes in the Alpes. I am currently working on this series and it should be finished in 2013/2014. The crossing of the Alps evolved from narrow trails for pack horses and mules to the first pass roads to the multi-lane highways and the large tunnel projects of the present. The photographs show different aspects of the transformation of a landscape.

The Passbilder are a further part of my photography, where I am interested in landscapes and places where people left behind visible traces.

The photographs will be available as large prints in the near future.

Passbilder - Bilder von Alpenpässen

Ganz aktuell fotografiere ich diese Dokumentation über Alpenpässe, die mich noch bis 2013/2014 beschäftigen wird. Die Überquerung der Alpen entwickelte sich von einfachen Pfaden für beladene Pferde und Maultiere rasant zu den ersten Passstraßen über mehrspurigen Autobahnen zu den aktuellen Tunnelprojekten. Die Bilder zeigen verschiedene Aspekte dieser Landschaftsveränderung.

Auch die Serie der Passbilder beschäftigt sich mit Landschaften und Orten, an denen der Mensch sichtbare Spuren hinterlassen hat.

Die Bilder werden als großformatige Prints erhältlich sein.
